If you are looking for an ecosystem expert, you have come to the right place . I am studying about ecosystems at the Amigos School. Food chains, food webs and energy pyramids are an important part of understanding ecosystems . Food chains and food webs connect organisms by what gives them energy (what they eat) and energy pyramids arrange organisms by the energy they pass on .
Project
My class has done a project about ecosystems . We organized into 4 groups and each got an ecosystem that we visited to make a food web an energy pyramid and a list of all the biotic and abiotic (living and unliving) things in our ecosystem . My group got to describe the rocky beach/tide pool ecosystem on Deer Island . The biotic organisms are catogorized into smaller groups ; herbevors (organisms that only eat producers ), producers ( organisms that convert solar energy to chemical energy. ), carnivors (organisms that only eat meat ) an, hebivors (organisms that eat both produsers and meat forinstance us ) and decomposers ( organisms that break down dead organisms ) .
Biotic
Herbivores
In the rocky beach/tide pool ecosystem the herbivors on shore are periwinkles and in the ocean are blue muscels and clams .
Produceres
In this ecosystem the producers in the ocean are kelp, rock weed, knoted wrack, other types of sea wead, algae prodists and fido plankton .
Carnivores
In this ecosystem the carnivors in the ocean are barnacles and jelly's ( jelly fish is incorrect because they are invertabrates and fish are not ) and on shore are crabs .
Omnivores
In this ecosystem the omnivors in the ocean are zoo plankton and on shore are seagulls, semiplated sand piper and theherring gull .
Decomposeres
In this ecosystem the decomposers in rhe ocean are briophite on shore are beach flies and on both are bacteria.
Abiotic
Air temperature:63ºF Land:peninsula Ocean temperature:60º/62ºF Deer island is a peninsula in Winthrup Massachusetts where several ecosystems and wild life are.
